Pune bus driver Santosh Mane gets death for mowing down 9 people

Pune: Pune bus driver Santosh Mane has been sentenced to death by a sessions court on Monday for crushing to death nine people in Pune in 2012. More than 30 people were also injured in the incident on February 3, 2012 when Mane drove his bus over them.

Mane, a driver with the state transport corporation, using a master key to state buses had hijacked a Satara bound bus from the Swargate terminal.




He went berserk, driving in a frenzy, most of the times on the wrong side of the road, ramming into vehicles, mowing down pedestrians, as the city police joined in the chase on motorcycles.
