QUETTA: As many as five NATO containers were set ablaze on the National Highway near Kambari bridge area of Bolan District, some 70 kilometres from the provincial capital, on Monday.

While talking to reporters, Bolan Deputy Commissioner Sayeed Waheed Shah said that a convoy of 40 NATO containers was en route to Karachi from Chaman when unidentified armed men on two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire on it. Resultantly, five containers of the convoy caught fire. “The containers were carrying scrap and other constructive material for bridges,” Deputy Commissioner Sayeed Waheed Shah said, and added that the raiders attacked the convoy from the front.
The drivers of the containers fled after the attack and the attackers set ablaze five containers, which were completely destroyed, while other containers remained safe, Waheed said. He further said that no drivers were injured in the attack. However, unofficial sources claimed that a driver was injured in the attack. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack until the filing of this report. A case has been registered against the unidentified persons and investigation is underway.
