Bangalore blast: Police don’t rule out foul play; 13 injured



Bangalore: The blast outside the Bangalore BJP office was caused after a motorcycle exploded, Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar confirmed minutes after the explosion that occurred at 10.45 am on Wednesday.

“Initially we were told it was a cylinder explosion, but it was a motorcycle blast. It was explosive plus incendiary blast,” Auradkar said. Panic spread in the sleepy Bangalore neighbourhood after a huge explosion was heard outside the BJP office in Malleswaram. Soon afterwards a number of vehicles parked in the vicinity caught fire.




Eyewitnesses said glass windows of a nearby building were shattered due to the blast.

At least 13 persons, including eight policemen, were injured in the blast and rushed to KC General Hospital.

Fire brigade officials have doused the fire.

The entire area has been cordoned off. Multiple forensic teams are at the spot and are looking for clues. A team from the National Investigating Agency (NIA) is also expected to arrive shortly.
